Work in Glasgow
Tenements and inside work
Glasgow tenement flats mean high ceilings, deep cornices, lath and plaster and walls that have been covered in paper since before anybody living there was born.
Most of what we do in them is skimming: walls prepared and taken flat so they will take paint, chimney breasts opened up or boarded in, and ceilings dealt with. Where there is good cornice work it stays and the new finish is run into it.
The bungalows and the post war estates
Out from the centre the city is full of inter war bungalows and post war semis, a lot of them roughcast, and a lot of them within a short run of us.
Artex is almost a given in those houses: ceilings, and often the hallway walls as well. Taking that flat is one of the jobs we do most.
Outside work in the city
Re-dashing, render repairs and smooth render on houses rather than on tenement blocks. A tenement elevation is usually a factored, shared decision and a different kind of job altogether.
If you own a house in the city and the dash has gone, that is exactly the work in our work section.
