What we did
This one had already come down, with insulation hanging through the hole. By that point there is no repair: the rest of it is coming down too, it is only a question of whether it happens while somebody is underneath.
The ceiling was taken out, re-boarded, skimmed and coved. Coving at the wall line is worth having on a rebuilt ceiling because it covers the one joint that moves most.
