What we did
Yellow coloured roughcast on top of an older brown dash, with the brown showing through wherever the top coat had let go. Once it is doing that there is nothing to be gained by patching it.
We took it back and re-dashed in a light mix, and rebuilt the front steps in the same finish so they belong to the house instead of being a lump of concrete in front of it.
